…but ‘whisper’ and ‘727’ are two words rarely used in the same sentence, or for that matter, the same month. But hey, it’s a great plane, and he’s having no trouble catching up with the Super Constellation photo bird. (No whisperer there either).

Eastern were quite naughty! Around the time they were introducing the RB211 high bypass turbofan they used the fact the new generation of engine was so much quieter than the old jt8ds and labelled their new L1011’S as “whisper jets” and probably accidentally, of course, used that on their old noisy kites too
