321st Fighter Interceptor Squadron

The 321st flew several models of the F-89 Scorpion from Paine AFB, WA, before they deactivated in 1960. The Air Force closed Paine before the end of the decade. It’s not far from my house, and the former air base is all but gone, but Boeing builds airliners there, so it’s hardly a ghost town. One sign of Paine’s days gone by is the still extant alert barn of the 321st.
